Our Objectives

The Objectives of PEMALIK

To create an awareness by exposing related problems of the alienated parent and children to the forefront through the mass-media and forums. Others include networking with other similar bodies and government agencies. Our goal will be to increase awareness on the traumatic effects that children and the alienated parent faces through group discussions and counseling.

The Aims of PEMALIK

To highlight any form of parental alienation as a child abuse. The victims are not only the deprived children but also their parent. Typically the effects of this alienation are mental trauma, deterioration in studies, lack of interest in social and physical activities and parents losing self esteem.

The Seriousness

When parental alienation occurs, children are often faced with mental distress as they are not able to express their true intentions to the dominant parent. These children usually suffer emotional and psychological trauma, which are unnoticed. In the long run, their development are affected. Children of today are the leaders of tomorrow is the common adage repeated time and again. Our nation need children who are brought up in a stable environment free from the unnecessary effects from PARENTAL ALIENATION !

Short Term

  • Create awareness through letters to the press and publish articles on issues involving family and children displaced by alienation.

  • Dialogue with the National Family Board and related Agencies to create understanding of the negative effects of PARENTAL ALIENATION.

  • To present Memorandum on parental issues to the Judiciary, Bar Council and Legislature and create awareness on negative effects of it to the society.

  • To set up networks in all states to achieve national status and to network with
    similar local & international groups.

Medium and Long Term
  • To lobby for inclusion of the negative effects of Parental Alienation and look at ways to overcome it in the National Family Policy draft.

  • To lobby with Marriage Tribunal to look into Reconcilation, Consultative Counselling & Mediation.

  • To lobby Parliament to amend the Law Reform Act (Sections 88 (3) - Marriage & Divorce Act 1976.

  • To lobby for a Judicial System which provides a "Human Face" in
Family Courts where decision are made which has devastating life
    long implications.
